"Times are a-changing in Malaysia and today, there is
greater awareness and interest among Malaysian corporations in equity
and fair
play in the working environment. The topic of this study is the
fair treatment of employees and the norms of resource distribution.
"A
society's perception towards fair play and justice plays an important
role in the actual distribution of organisational resources among
the workforce. And this, in turn, contributes to organisational
productivity.
"The
study was designed to look at issues such as recruitment, promotion,
performance appraisal and distribution of perks and benefits to
the workforce in Malaysian organisations. By making an assumption
that there are value differences among the major ethnic groups in
the country, the study highlights differences in allocation decision
made in organisations where certain ethnic groups are in the majority.
"The Malays and Chinese being the two ethnic groups that have
a vast majority in the workforce were key subjects in this study.
"This book provides an interesting insight
on management styles and will be useful in helping managers and
academics have a different perspective when evolving corporate policies
and practices and future research. It also provides an interesting
aspect of the Malaysian corporate scene and the diversity of its
workforce for expatriate managers."
