This is the country's guiding philosophy. Malaysia has also managed its security environment well, continuing to face the emerging challenges of the 21st century. About the Author

MOHAMAD NAJIB ABDUL RAZAK is the Malaysian Minister of Defence. He has held a number of other ministerial appointments, including Minister of Youth and Sports, Minister of Education and Chief Minister of the state of Pahang. He has been in politics for over 25 years and is currently vice-president of UMNO, the major party in the ruling coalition since independence. He was previously the head of UMNO Youth.

   He received his early education at St John's Institution in Kuala Lumpur and Malvern College in Worcestershire, England. He holds a BA (Hons) in Industrial Economics from the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom. He has delivered many lectures at international conferences, such as the 7th World Business Dialogue in Cologne, the East Asia Summit of the World Economic Forum in Singapore, the Global Leadership Forum at Harvard University, as well as others in London, Washington, D.C., Ottawa, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Manila and Jakarta.
